To give you an idea of the amount of contribution you can receive to help cover the costs of boat ownership we have made generic tables of calculations to help and prompt your own thinking toward your monthly costs and how you would like to price a contribution toward sharing your boat. We have taken the cost of registration from the www.service.transport.qld.gov.au and the cost of insurance is a generic calculation, but we know you will get the drift. Lets take a look!

What this table is showing is that, if you were to share your boat 4 times a month, you will want to cover the cost of the monthly boat ownership over 4 occasions. Alternatively if you want to drive more sharing traffic toward your boat you may want to reduce the contribution of your full day (6 – 8 hours) by deciding to share your boat 8 times a month. The idea is to cover your monthly outgoing payments for your boat with a contribution toward the cost of ownership. For example, if your boat has a value of $150,000 you may want to post a full day contribution of $1,063.81. This would then cover 25% of you monthly costs. If you were to go out on more occassions, say 8 times a month, then the contribution would cover 1 eighth or 12.5% of the monthly cost of boat ownership.
Similarly, if you own a boat of lower value, you may advertise an asking contribution of $698.68 and $432.84 respectively.

These are generic costings, examples only and shouldn’t be taken as a guarantee or some other offering from Boatbuddy, it isn’t. It’s just a thought provoking tool to help you understand the cost of boat ownership. You can, of course, set a contribution within the app to your liking, the above is just a guide.
